The hot tandem mill is a series of mill stands operating sequentially.  Typically 3, 4 or 5 stand are used in aluminium rolling.  Slab is transferred from the hot breakdown mill, at a temperature in the range 400-500^oC, and at a gauge of 20-40mm.  Reductions of typically 50% are applied by each stand, before the strip is coiled at the exit of the final stand.  The product coil is known as a "reroll" coil, as it will be further cold rolled to final gauge.
